How can science help prevent or minimize environmental problems?

How can science correct the damaged that has been done to the environment or how can science prevent further damage. |||I think science helps the best by helping people understand what the problem is.

By understanding the underlying science of animals, ecosystems, plants etc one can be better informed about what influences different factors will have upon the environment.

For example, we know now that the removal of trees and deep rooted vegetation in many inland areas of Australia has caused dryland salinity. Because there is an understanding of the science of trees, root systems, the water table and so forth one is able to now develop and experiment with different methods to combat dryland salinity.

Scientific research has highlighted areas of concern too ... that is there may have never been a consideration that this was an environmental issue (e.g. loss of certain species). Understanding the science behind animal behaviours, requirements etc etc one can develop more efficient management systems.|||for me science is not only the answer even you can help minimize the global warming

heres an easy way how to deal with the global warming:

1.plant more trees because trees help minimize carbon dioxides

2.used bicycles if you are going to place near your house even its 1 km away(im doing that since im grade 6)

3.recycling and consuming less electricty because power plants uses carbon dioxide

4.dont waste paper

i hope you can do that because we humans are the answer to this kind problem

|||By not only pointing out to actual environmental problems but by also offering solutions acceptable from the environmental point of view. However science is simply not enough, what is more important is economy and above all politics. Without those two on its side science is unfortunately only a meaningless word.
