Need to make a report on environmental problems.?

I need a report(15 pages) on environmental problems like ozone depletion, water pollution, smog, etc stuff(one broad topic). I don't seem to find any good high school level material. Please suggest me some good reference web sites.Where can i find good report material?|||first don't ever use wiki, u know they take points off for using that source..then again i dont know where u reside and what school u go to! we cant use wiki even as a reference ... these r some sites i found, i thought they were good:

What would be the environmental problems for country clubs?

I hope you can help me out for my thesis. thank you|||biggest = pesticide and herbicide use on greens - daily golfers have higer cancer rates - and runn off.|||Every day when I walk through the woods next to the golf course, I see the drainage needed to keep the fairways dry, and I see the irrigation systems needed to keep the fairways wet, then I notice the many drain pipes leading into the woods and to the creeks and then to the rivers, containing the many chemicals used to keep the fairways and greens in pristine condition.

Fairways and greens are not "natural" in the sense that they look that good every day of the year. You have to do a lot of watering and chemical manipulation of the grass to maintain that condition. Its everyone downstream who has to eat and drink the products of the runoff.|||A golf course uses a lot of chemicals to keep the weeds out and keep the grass green and lush. They use a lot of gasoline powered machines to cut and trim. They also use a lot of water which in some areas has to come a long distance. Golf carts are mostly battery powered these days but still a number of gas one left. They are not environmentally a good choice for areas with regular air pollution problems. But I bet they are still there.

How do the environmental problems of Mono Lake and the Aral Sea differ?

Scale a sea is larger than a lake gererally speaking.

What type of environmental problems does russia face that the United States face also?

Nuclear water problems, air and water pollution, oil leaks, gas leaks, vehicle and heating emissions, solid and hazardous waste problems.|||Canada

How does the notion "econmic man" tend to lead to environmental problems? (consider perfect knowledge and assu?

last word is assumption. ok can a smart econmist or just someone smart who knows exactly what this means tell me the answer. Im getting behind in my work which seriously sux. thanx.|||i studied economics and business. never heard of the "economic man"./

i think you took the word from sociology test.

i guess the definition of economic man. relates to a person that has a rationality of maximising profit

perfect knowledge means- that every one in the market (consumer and supplier) have the knowledge about everything in it so they dont incur any searching or information costs

so the answer, will be along the lines that all what the economic man considers is to maximise his profits while producing negative externalities that rise the social costs.

(if you have an economic text book. look for the section where you see the analysis in diagrams of social and private costs/benefits and their effects, which is the "externality")

a good idea is to find the film "The Corporation" it will help you with example giving and the understanding of how the "economic man" behaves|||The term "Economic Man" was used for the first time in the late nineteenth century by critics of John Stuart Mill’s work on political economy.[1][2] Below is a passage from Mill’s work that those 19Century critics were referring to:

"[Political economy] does not treat the whole of man’s nature as modified by the social state, nor of the whole conduct of man in society. It is concerned with him solely as a being who desires to possess wealth, and who is capable of judging the comparative efficacy of means for obtaining that end."[3]

Later in the same work, Mill goes on to write that he is proposing “an arbitrary definition of man, as a being who inevitably does that by which he may obtain the greatest amount of necessaries, conveniences, and luxuries, with the smallest quantity of labour and physical self-denial with which they can be obtained.”

An 'economic man' very often may not be worried about environmental problems

What jobs have the greatest impact on the prevention and remediation of environmental problems?

(Stamets' work includes mushroom-based anti-viral drugs)

Other similar businesses are using mycelia to make biodegradable food containers instead of using styrofoam; as well as making fireproof (or very fire-resistant) insulation.

Edit: Building houses with straw bales, or stones, or sacks of dirt.

Growing hemp for fuel, medicines, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Being a farmer and selling to locals so they don't have to buy food that's been shipped needlessly around the world.

Being a bike courier or rickshaw driver.|||This is the best question. The answer is: No jobs. Crazy, huh. If you have a job, you don't have any time to do all your living. You have to pay other people that sit at the head of the table in a huge corporation where nothing but money and power matter, ultimately, to feed you, clothe you, entertain you, employ you, provide you a vehicle, a television, tickets to the Knicks, an ipod touch.... it never stops once you start feeding it. But if you don't have a job, finally you get to eat all the fresh healthy organic vegetables you figured out how to grow, the milk you squeezed out of your goat doesn't have any antibiotics or hormones to make your daughters bud early and act real crazy sneaking out of the house on weekends (or worse), the old chevy with parts that a grown human can actually fit their hands around only burns gasoline a little bit here and there when it's really necessary so you aren't worried at all since you are nenewing WAY more carbon around this place than you are losing up into the atmosphere where it does God knows what, and you have an appreciation for the land around you, which means you won't be so quick to dump battery acid in the creek or beer can plastic rings onto the necks of critters.

What jobs have the greatest impact on the prevention and remediation of environmental problems?

What major environmental problems are we gonna face in next 20 years ?

in the future, 20/30/40 years wars will be fought over drinking water|||Yes exactly, it is the same threat. Environmental journalists are [facing] the same threats now as human rights journalists, or political journalists, or economic journalists were 10 to 20 years ago. I wouldn't say it's as dangerous as war reporting for instance but it is becoming a burning issue and a very delicate and highly sensitive issue to report on.|||Sadly, pollution may become a problem we will face in the next 20 or so years. This seems to be a problem already judging in the amounts of oil spills, gas leaks and car exhaust fumes. Also between 20-30 years things such as nuclear wars may start to break out causing major pollution. This has become a close call in a few situations already.|||regardless of what you read nothing has happened to the ozone layer it varies according the strength of solar flares and there have always been "holes " over the poles the only big problem from which all the other problems will come is the possible 12 billion people there will be in that time the human population has gone from arithmetic increase to geometric increase in eighty years, lets hope it doesn't go to exponential|||HI,

I m really scared about our future as we have to face these following problems-

-Global warming.

-Ozone layer depletion

-Air pollution etc.|||I'd say solar flares and ozone layer are some of the most immediate threats, in 20 years probably drinkable water and air pollution. Who knows?|||TOO many People- wanting to Build in TOO many Dangerous Places..! :(|||i think is air-pollution

What solutions were proposed to deal with major environmental problems of the 1990s?

Taxes, taxes and more taxes.

Why are Australians so positve when the country suffers from lots of social and environmental problems still?

I hate the whole countries mentality that "if it aint broke, why fix it" or "she'll be right mate", whats up with that? are Australians just un-caring people about their issues? Please comment?|||Because that's the country's general mentality to pretty much anything...

There are problems or issues in every country. Australia is no different. Sometimes it works in our favour, sometimes it doesn't...

Environmentally we still have a long way to go.

Socially we are pretty mixed. We still have work to do - but then what nation doesn't? There is no nation which doesn't have poverty or homelessness etc.

Some stuff we do well, or at least we try and do ok at, we have "universal health", it's not perfect and Nordic countries do it better, but we do better than the US where homeless are regularly barely treated and then dumped at the local shelter when they can't buy. And something like 1/3 have no health insurance and are expected to pay hundreds of dollars for basic stuff (Morgan Spurlock did a 30 days on minimum wage and spent something like $500 to have his sprained ankle strapped in an emergency department. In Australia, go to a public hospital and it's free.) A documentary on a long term hospital saw bed sheets changed once a month and too bad if anything happens, cockroaches infested the sheets, good luck getting fed!

We have a fairly low bomicide rates - something like 1.25 per 100,000 (the US is between 5 and 6 per 100,000), our living standards, length of life etc are all pretty good...|||"Why are Australians...?"

I guess you are not Australian then? So why are you annoying yourself about what goes on in that superior country of yours? I mean doesn't every country have their own problems?

Just look at yourself and your country first before commenting on others.

I seriously don't understand why you bother so much with wasting time here question after question, feeding on people's reactions. Are reactions edible or sellable for money? I mean after we answer, we just move on with life... we don't know you so why would you expect us to be haunted with your behaviour?

Stupid.|||To quote Germaine Greer:

"Australians are too relaxed to give a damn."|||She'll be right mate, no wuckin furries.|||probably where the type of people that will probably get a cut that needs stitches and try and fix it with a bandaid and that is why i love this country|||Compared to the vast majority of the world's population we have it easy here ...our problems are insignificant when you realise that so many people struggle daily to put food on the table !

People here won't react until they are directly affected in ways that inhibit their daily lives ...that could be by way of their hip pocket or restrictions on their activities...when that happens there'll be one almighty bellow ...just wait %26amp; see !|||This is why I am not conservative. I hate the "let's stick with traditions even if there's something better out there" and "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude. I want progress, especially on environmental and social fronts. We are killing our planet, and making it unlivable for generations in the future, and social inequality still exists in Australia, something I find unacceptable.

I think the problem with a lot of people here is that they don't personally experience negative environmental effects, or social inequality, so they do nothing. It isn't effecting them, so why bother to learn about it, much less DO SOMETHING about it!

Is Cap and Trade a solution to environmental problems or a dangerous distraction?

Do you really think these guys are looking out for the best interests of the environment? Here are some problems with Cap %26amp; Trade explained with cartoons.

http://ordinarywords.com/capandtrade/|||Cap and trade sets up a scheme where a few will profit at the expense of the many. Carbon has no value, thus there's no reason to trade this stuff. The price is artificially set by government and wall street and the price will move not on free market value, but on the whims of politicians and ceo's.|||The most important part of the cap and trade is the cap. It isn't perfect, but do you see any better places to start right this instant? Is anyone offering any other ideas? No, because Most people who trash talk cap and trade are only doing so because of their political agendas and could give a f8ck about the environment (it's true). well that leads into a whole nother can of worms....

I would love to see a new energy economy, where the building of a sustainable energy infrastructure is economically driven, giving opportunity for business to grow and new businesses to develop by creating clean, renewable energy through incentive based programs.

That's the spirit of cap and trade. The ones who oppose it, those are the ones who just want to create doubt and confusion because that's what the whole political party is based on right now. Those are the ones who don't have the interest of the environment in mind. Ask any one of those other answerers if they give two sh1ts about the environment (they don't).

cap and trade is written in legal language and if you look hard enough, as with anything legal, you can find ways to interpret it negatively. It's just a small little baby step, but it's a step in the right direction.|||Parts of that were actually quite intelligent - especially where companies make huge sums of money when, according to them they have caused a carbon offset. That's just a cash cow waiting to be milked which will sink any chance of genuine CO2 reduction.

I disagree with the author's assertions that human activity is causing significant climate change. That's just bad science based on unjustified alarmism.

Do you think you can derail the climate change gravy train and keep alarmism - you can't. If there's no gravy train, there's no alarmism.|||It is best to describe it as a government run con game designed to make a few billionaires even richer than they were before. Can we rely on science and technology to solve our environmental problems?

Can we really just rely on them?? Please give ur opinions. thanks.|||No, science and technology can only develop the solutions. The solutions can not work unless we are willing to apply them. This takes individual resolve to follow recommended policies and procedures, compliance with local ordinances, and holding polluting individuals and businesses to account and applying stiff consequences.

What caused the environmental problems experienced by the ancient seaport, Troy?

Large numbers of Greek soldiers milling about for the better part of a decade.|||Lots of things: Earthquake, Drought, Fire, etc.

Their have actually been numerous cities on the site of the city of Troy. The earliest dates from about 3000 BC to the latest in the 1st Century BC. Each city collapsed for particular reasons.

Two examples are:

Around 1300 BC, the city experience a major earthquake and was destroyed and abandoned.

Around 1200 BC, the city show evidence of a massive invasion and fire (The Trojan War?)

Peace!

What are the environmental problems related to radioactivity ?

Harm, effects and possible solutions|||the main problems with radioactive pollutants is their toxicity and long half-life. many pollutants released into the environment are short-lived - after a few minutes, hours, weeks or even months they will likely have been involved in a reaction that renders them inert or harmless. radioactive elements, on the other hand, do not decay into less-harmful substances for millions, often billions of years. so once they are released they are in the environment pretty much for good, and it is difficul t to collect them.

radioactive elements like uranium, thorium, plutonium etc are heavy metals - and heavy metals, for whatever reason, have a tendency to sequester in biological organisms. so, bacteria and plankton take some in, and fish that feed on them take in all of THEIR heavy metal content, and the birds that feed on the fish take in all of THEIR content.. and so on, all the way up the food chain. by the time you get to the top of the food chain, the large animals at the top (like humans!) take in a very heavy concentration of these contaminants.

having radioactive matter inside your body is a very, very bad thing. most radioactive elements decay by a process called "alpha emission" where they spontaneously decay by emitting an alpha particle. alphas are dangerous in a subtle way - they are weak enough that they don't travel very far in air - so standing next to an alpha emitter is not very dangerous. however, when the emitter is inside your body, the alphas don't have to travel very far to do damage to your cells! so having some alpha-emitting radioactive elements inside your body is far, far more hazardous than standing next to a million times as many atoms.

radiation from these elements is high-energy, which means it can break a lot of chemical bonds when it goes shooting through your body. the main problem here is that it damages your cells DNA, and since most of your cells die and are replaced after a few weeks/months, damaged DNA can very quickly spread through your body. this can have serious consequences - radiation exposure has been shown to cause cancer, particularly when ingested. damaged DNA also causes genetic defects so that one's offspring can be born with mutations - typically these are harmful and also can be passed on to later generations.

the only real solution is to carefully control how much radioactivity is released into the environment. this requires a good understanding of the industrial processes that generate radioactive pollutants and careful independent oversight to make sure that people aren't inadvertently (or intentionally) releasing them into the environment.

cheers!|||There is no solution to radioactive polution but it causes severe deformalities in animals and fish and plants. Also it alters the structure of our DNA so our children could come out squirlley.

How can science help us understand and solve environmental problems?

Science is the process of generating and testing hypothesis. It's a process of discovery not a process of knowledge. In this respect it's the very antithesis of faith as it assumes that truth will survive all tests and those may and should be questioned as often as possible while faith presumes that faith is sufficient, that questions only insult the belief. In science, truth does not need your faith and indeed your skepticism serves truth better than faith. There are no scientific facts, laws or knowledge; there's only the scientific process. Unfortunately, as the concept of all tests is an infinite quantity, science can never be complete and until it is, it is subject to bias, manipulation and misrepresentation.|||Science is the basis of everything we develop or understand. Without science we may be fooled by the things happening around us. In environment problems if we don't depend on science you will find that the most eloquent speaker can convince the whole world that nothing is wrong. Like the 'deniers' who are bent on slewing all the available data to prove that there is not environmental problem like green house effect or the ozone layer issues etc. Yes of course science also is stammering in this issue since the variables are so many, we are yet to conclusively say what is happening around us.

Science was the one which found hat there is a hole in the ozone layer, science is the one which found the reason for the whole, it is the one which is concerned about the increasing level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere etc.|||Scientific advances in alternative energy such as wind, solar, bio-fuels, etc. to make them cheaper, cost effective, and easy to maintain, will be a hard sell to the big oil companies, who probably already have the technology, but if enough people band together, it's possible to get the stuff sooner than later.|||Environmental problems such as oil spillages and nuclear meltdowns YES.

The whole 'global warming' issue, NO!

Which do you think would be the best solution to our environmental problems?

Do you think it truly is better for everyone to do small things such as recycling, driving less and walking more, turning off water and electricity when not in use, etc. or for a few people to totally change their lives in an effort to protect the environment?|||It's better to have more people do little things than a few do a lot of things. The impact is greater and the overall morale on the issue is healthier.

You can go to greater support if you already havea a large percent of the population doing little things, and it's more likely to get less expensive to those little things, which further encourages.

A few people doing a lot does not encourage others and it flames bitterness between the doers and the do nothings.|||Everybody doing a few small things impacts the world greatly. It impacts others also, and makes them want to make a change. Its a domino effect. But a few people making a huge effort can be counteracted easily. We all have to pitch in and do what we can do to save the future.|||yes we must save green belt everywhere. We must plant green trees and try to protect existing ones. We must use renewable sources of energy and try to create more.|||we have to protect the environment to protct ourselves.just a little effort by eveyone can also help us to a greater extent.|||I started burning corn to heat my house two years ago.

Burning corn gives off no greenhouse gasses and saves me about $100 a month in heating bills. It also keeps my money in the local economy instead of sending it to Arab nations or South America.|||yes I do. I feel that it is the little things such as recycling and going to work on a bicycle and turning off water because it is important for the environment not to be suffering more than it already is. What you could do is join/enrol in a social network associating with this matter and you'll see how much your perspective on this engages you more.|||BOTH:

The reason is that for example in the EU ( I do not have the figures for North America), close to 50% of the large emittors of CO2 are for example large installations (around 5000 of them)

The rest is made of small emittors, mostly private people.

This is I believe a good picture of how the environmental problems can only be solved by the industry, private people, the government and NGO麓s all together.|||Either one will have a negligible effect on the environment.|||I think, in the end, it will take a few people in high, influential positions to protect the environment. Laws are probably the only way to stop the destruction of our earth, because there are too many greedy companies who are doing/have done massive damage in polluting our water and of our air. And as long as the almighty dollar, Euro, yuan, yen...can be earned by these people... without laws, they will not stop destroying the environment on a large scale.|||Hello. I think if more people put in well we would be better of. I think the best way to help the environment is to educate people more. I never knew anything but now i am learning and i have changed all my lighting in my house and also changed to gas as well. There is alot of things that i have changed only because i got told how to do things right. I think it comes down to learning. That is what i feel. Hope that helps. Take care.|||Yes I do, IF everyone did this we may all live a little longer. But there are so many idiots out there that don't think we are in any danger and that it is just a hoax. Those are the people that are dangerous to our world.

All you need to do is watch the Science Channel, Natural Geographic and a few others out there to see the danger this planet is in. I will never see it but my grandchildren will and their children. How do ecological models help scientists understand and plan solutions for environmental problems?

Your question is in error.

An ecological model helps scientists understand the environmental problems.

But planning solutions to the problems is up to politicians. Up to now, no politician has done anything to combat the problems.

What could happen to the earth if we dont solve our environmental problems?

i need to report on that ^ but cant find anything to helpful, they make it too complicated|||Well first we would lose our ozone layer and the unravelent radiation would hourt us, then we would die. Hope this will help calm you down.|||We sould lose our ozone layer

and bad bad stuff

Can I know what are the serious environmental problems that is happening now?

can someone tell me what are they?|||Global Warming for the highest one. The extinction of the Polar bear due to this. The extinction of the Walrus due to this, Over three thousand babies died this year from it. The extinction of many species of seal from global warming.

The extinction of certain species of Whales due to over hunting. The same for seals hunted for food by the Japanese.

We as humans, are parasites on this planet and, have been slowly killing it through our greed, the rain forests, the forests themselves. Our natural reserves of oil, gas, coal etc.

Pollution, China pollutes the very air with an equal to 100,000 Ford Explorers running full speed constantly, every hour of every day.

We over hunt our animal population for the name of "fun" we over fish our rivers and streams. We dam the rivers and stop the natural breeding of these fish, Salmon, Trout, etc.

The list goes on and on. Take notice and look around you.

One good example was Chernobyl in Russia. An area of about 120 square miles have been polluted through stupidity

and lack of knowledge.

The Black sea is actually the "Dead Sea" due to heavy pollution and there are areas in China and Russia you can't breathe without a mask.

We have our own IE: "Three mile island" the Tennessee Valley authority and the dams therein.

We are slowly killing our beautiful Earth. Weep not for man but, weep for the Earth he stands on.|||Yes, i agree with above, Grobal warming is serious environment.

Can we somehow solve environmental problems, stop the war and give gays equal rights without?

What are some health and environmental problems caused by global warming?

what are some health and environmental problems caused by global warming|||Here's a complete list of things caused by global warming, as reported in various media outlets.

But, seriously, global warming does more good than harm, more arable land, longer growing seasons, etc. Global cooling, on the other hand, could cause worldwide famine.|||Now that nearly everyone is on the global warming/climate change bandwagon, you can attribute anything to this issue. I've seen claims that depression, suicide rates, even car accidents are linked to warming. The next time you're late for school try to blame that on warming and see how it works.

If there were to be further warming, which is unknown, then heat stroke, dehydration and wildfires would increase. But the deaths from freezing would decline in greater number so it's hard to say if the net impact would be good or bad. We don't know yet if there would be more droughts or not, since presumably more water would enter the atmosphere as glaciers melted, meaning more is available for rainfall. No linkage can be seen between warming and hurricanes other than the fact that warm water + cool air or cool water + warm air makes them happen in the first place. It's not the overall temp, it's the differential in temp that causes and feeds the storm.

In the past, warm periods coincide with explosions in human prosperity, the Bronze Age warming, the Roman Warming and the Medieval Warm Period. During the MWP people had such bountiful harvests they could afford to build the huge cathedrals that still stand in Europe, the other periods show similar prosperity from large harvests and plenty of food. It's a human perversity to look at what was so beneficial in the past as reason to panic today.|||Increased drought in some areas and flooding in others. Millions more people faced with starvation and hundreds of millions losing their lively hood from food or water stress. Disease spreading as flooding helps the vermin thrive.

And all that is just in Africa.

More locally the factors that increase global warming such as pollution also hurt people.

Edit, jazzfan the anecdotal evidence about those periods in small pockets of Europe is not reliable enough to make an assessment about the whole world. FAR more importantly, in modern times we have the whole world to worry about. Most people aren't willing to have southern Asia and Africa starve, just so a small minority of people in Europe can build Cathedrals or mansions, private planes and whatever else people build with their excess money nowadays|||Liberals are hyperventilating, releasing more Co2, speeding up the end of the world. What are some environmental problems we have due to global warming?

The biggest problem to my environment is that I have to constantly hear about global warming. Day in, day out. The hysteria is getting out of hand. So I would say the biggest effect global warming has on my environment is hearing about global warming. Other than that, I see no global warming around here. It's 15 frickin degrees, and snowing.|||due to the continued meltdown of ice in the polar zones, some life forms could become extinct, due to the changed climate, that includes polar bears and some penguin species.

We are fed images of polar bears dangling on thin ice, and have to agree something seems to be changing.

Unless, of course, those images are fake.

As for the apparent differences going on...weather patterns that give us fluctuating conditions...severe summers where no rain exists in certain areas, while others have extreme heat that often kills people with health problems...this tells me that the earth may indeed be going through some changes that are unique.

Some will argue that earth was always changing, and that is true.

However, SEVERE changes like we are now experiencing has to be the result of high population and their propensity to use pollutants and toxins to the detriment of their own eco systems.

Just for example...the weather today is balmy for Jan. 1.

It is expected to flucturate some ffity degrees over the next week, dropping to the low teens by tomorrow, and then going back to the fifties by the weekend.

I can understand some fluctuation, but these extremes that keep taking place tell me that something isn't what it should be.

I have to conclude that the extreme conditions that prevail in certain areas of the world, and the inclination for those conditions to escallate, says that earth is changing.

Some of the changes are actually beneficial, i.e. longer time periods of milder weather make it easier to get around as opposed to icy, snowy conditions.

The big question is when will the extremes become overwheming, so that no man made solution can remedy it.|||in olden times, please use to live for 100 years and more... now we could live only for 60-70 yrs. only.|||the ice from the antarctic and the ice from the arctic are melting due to global warming and flooding the land on the earth. after the water evaporates, the land will be barren. extreme heat is also an environmental problem due to global warming.|||Yes, at least in my country we see many phenomenon in the nature, like balance of seasons(temperature, period), fishes which seen in warmer area can be seen in the north part in the recent years.

The government has already started to do a lot campaign to raise the nation's awareness of global warming, loads company's building started to be instructed to set the airconditioner's temperature setting at certain temp. or project on reducing plastic bag at shops, which is good, because my country is one of the developped country and should lead and educate the other countries that their awareness is very low and thinking about their own national interests than gloval issues.

Do environmental problems lead to social problems. How?

Here is what I thought of:

The pollution of rivers and areas in 3rd world countries, which lead to increased health problems, lower quality of life and more deaths, affecting family and population

The increased heat and cold which affect the very elderly and children the most. If this was constant and the world heated up, elderly people would die, children would die which would affect the earth's population

Higher increase of need for assistance from government and specialised workers, which means government debt and lack of available workers.

Here is just a few I thought of. Can you think of any more?|||You answered your own question. Most people on here do not have the intelligence to answer you, sorry

What are the environmental problems caused by transporting crude oil?

there is a big possibility of causing an oil spill that can destroy a lot of marine life.|||Apart from the obvious one of the propulsion unit of the ship producing pollution, not much.

The point about oil spills is a little erroneous, crude oil if spilt will start to evaporate quite quickly and as crude is what occurs in nature, there are no real long term effects of a spill, think Milford Haven in 1996, a spill occurred in February, the beaches etc were open for tourists in the summer of that year. Oil is a natural product and eventually most of it will have been broken down by micro-organisms in the water.

How is the use of pesticides and fertilizers for agriculture tied to environmental problems far away from thei?

?? :)|||In the case of fertilizers less than half of the materials are actually utilized by the plants. The rest of The fertilizer pollutes ground water, attaches to soil particles or pollutes the atmosphere. The pollution of groundwater can contaminate well water. When these chemicals attach to soil particles, it affects everything that depends on the soil, such as microbes and the plants themselves. The atmospheric pollution results in something called atmospheric nitrogen deposition. When it rains, the air pollutants are carried in the water. Atmospheric nitrogen deposition adds excess nitrogenous materials to ecosystems all over the continent. This excess material alters ecosystems.

As for pesticides, do some research on colony collapse disorder. It is correlated with the use of systemic pesticides. The pesticides may be what is causing commercially important bees to die and leave their hives. Without these bees, our agriculture will suffer, we may soon depend on other countries for our fruits and some other foods if this problem is not solved. There are a lot of negative environmental affects caused by pesticides, I just mentioned one of them.|||The chemcals used can affect the enviroment in several ways even across the state or country. One way is the birds and migratory animals that eat the treated plants can affect the areas in which they migrate. Water runoff is another huge effect. Rivers can carry these chemicals for thousands of miles affecting wildlife the whole way. One more that i can think of is the chemicals used can affect crops that may be transported "far away"|||The particles that are light enough to go through the air can travel great distances depending on environments wind and moisture conditions allowing it cause respiratory problems for animals within certain distances.|||There is a dead-zone in the Gulf of Mexico where no fish live because of the run-off of pesticices %26amp; ferts in the Mississippi river.

He co-organized the Live Earth concerts, beginning in 2007, to increase awareness about climate change, get young people excited about becoming involved, and raise money for environmental causes. The first one brought together 150 different musical acts in 11 different locations. Very successful concerts. They were broadcast and streamed over the Internet and attracted huge audiences worldwide.

He launched at least two venture capital or investment companies tied to improving the environment and improving financial portfolios of those interested in these issues. One was called Generation Investment Management. This began in 2004. He heads the climate change solutions group for the venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield and Byers.

In 2007 he won the Nobel Peace Prize, which he shared with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The award was given "for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change."

What are some environmental problems that energy production has caused in the past?

Pollution of the Air, Water, and Land.

Air - Smog in cities with high population density, from coal fired electricity generation, as well as due to industrialization.

Water - Heavy metal leakage to the water table whenever they cleaned their cooling towers. Oil spillage on the high seas like Exxon Valdes.

Land - Strip mining of coal, and sand mining of oil in Canada for energy generation use.

------------------

Producing energy using solar power produces less than 1/100th of 1% of the the pollution as produced by fossil fuels.

The Sun imparts more than 1 kilowatt of power upon each square meter of ground near the equator. That means the Sun can provide more power in one year than all the known resources for fossil fuels burned in the World.

Space based solar concentrators can further increase energy production that surpasses the total production of energy many times over the combined energy used worldwide; while simultaneously producing the means to control weather globally. Allowing us to maintain our environment regardless of natural or man-made destructive tendancies.

How can technology help solve some of the environmental problems humans have created?

This is homework *help*. Since you haven't posted any sort of starting point, it looks like you simply want someone to write the paper for you. Not cool.

First of all, you need to figure out what problems you want to address. Please brainstorm a list.

From that list, which ones are susceptible to technological assistance? Note that there are already a number of solutions in place for various ecological applications: alternative fuels, renewable energy sources, and so on.

When you get *stuck*, come back here and post again; we'll help you over the rough spot.

How can technology help solve some of the environmental problems humans have created?

It is highly a difficult question to answer....... To be straight No technology that can help to resolve those issues may it could reduce them|||The biggest answer I think is energy. Production of energy. The ways we make energy are very bad in multiple ways, pollution, nuclear waste...... With solar energy, which is somewhat new technology, its could be possible to have absolutely no use for the old ways. So every step in forward in technology moving farther away from that. Unfortunately there is an effect in everything. and even solar has negative things about it.

What has China or India done to change or reverse there environmental problems?

With the enviromental issues and the threat of global warming what has two of the biggest most polluted countries done in an effort to reverse the damage? Does anyone know?|||Both India and China has too much to loose from Global Warming not to act on it. They are seeing melting glaciers leading to water shortages and droughts but also changed rain patterns. Right now about 35 million people in India and Bangladesh are on the run or trapped in their homes due to unusual heavy monsoon rains. China and India are trying hard to speed up the implementation of more renewable energy e t c.

However, in both of these countries hundreds of millions of people still lack electricity at home and the CO2 emissions per capita in China is less than 1/4 of that in the USA (India is even lower).

Both countries finds it unfair that they should be bound to mandatory targets when it's the rich world who is the cause of the problem and we're still way ahead when it comes to emissions per capita. We also have better economical means to address the problem. It's a political game.|||China is one of the fastest growing wind energy countries in the world. They are also building the most coal plants too, but at least they're trying a little. China is also planting trees to try to stop the desert from expanding any faster than it already is there.

India is erecting a bunch of turbines also. Most of all, they are both trying to limit their population growth.|||China doesn't publish much data relating to the environment and it's up to outside organisations to make estimates based on a variety of factors. The Chinese government did announce recently that it was going to implement a wide ranging environmental policy but the details of that policy aren't known.

India is at least more open with it's policies and objectives and has asked for outside assistance in combatting environmental problems.

Although a lot of attention is focussed on both China and India in respect of greenhouse gas emissions it's worth bearing in mind that these are the two most populous nations on the planet and that per head of population their greenhouse gas emissions are small. In the global list of polluters China is about half way down the list, India is about three quarters of the way down (ranked 99th and 132nd respectively).|||doubt if anything, I dont think they care about this as other countries; also I doubt that india even has resources to achieve this|||1. 2. India's level of industrialization is less; there by less energy is consumed.

Same goes for China also.|||not much, here is a couple things:

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc鈥?/a>|||China and India are involved in the biggest industrial boom in the history of the planet and they don't give a fig about global warming. And if the alarmist in the U.S. have their way and pass carbon taxes it will drive even more outsourcing and manufacturing to Asia.|||Both China and India are growing economies with exploding population growth all looking for a standard of living comparable to what we have in the west. What does this mean?

Increased energy use at a phenomenal scale.

Looking at these countries today is a very unfair method of measuring carbon emissions. It would make more sense to project into the future. (In the west energy use has reached a constant. Population in the west is actually going down. In the east, energy demand is going up exponentially and at the same time population growth is exponential. Add these two measurements up and we can expect some real trouble in the near future.)

If one doesn't really have a strong grasp of economic theory, one would think that if the west were handicapped by global warming legislation, that the east will have the opportunity to come up and perhaps even surpass the west. It takes a rational mind to understand that this isn't so.

If the west is handicapped economically, less investment will go to the east. The fast rise in eastern economies is due to an inflow of money from the west. Right now it is a limitless tap due to the west being economically strong enough to have surplus for investment. That is why most every western country has government programs and private charitable funds going to help causes, development, human rights, poverty, hunger, and industry in China, India, South America and in Africa.

Neither China, nor India, nor Africa have ever been in a position to give charitable contributions to the west or invest in western industries for western upliftment.

The economic theory of investment can be compared to Thermodynamics. In any closed system, it will go into entropy. This is the situation in third world countries. An open system is one that will have energy coming in. This is investment. There is no entropy when there is a constant tap of energy coming into the system. Free trade is how the west works. If other parts of the world get wealthier, so does the west. This principle is just as true for China and India as it is for the west.

It would therefore be in China's and India's interest that the west isn't crippled by Global Warming legislation as being pushed currently by the UN policy makers.|||I think they are more concerned with more important environmental issues than global warming at the moment.

Non-polluted drinking water.

Since they're rubber they don't biodegrade easily so they sit around for a long time also.

They and theirs made it they should clean it up, instead of holding picket signs. Some radioactivity last like 300-900yrs. That is what they said when the big nuke power was trying to fight for viable ground. Of course now that they have to clean it up it is only 100yrs. Will the lies be bigger in a hundred years to cover the asses of hypocrites. Yup. If you believe lies. If it goes away so quickly why do we throw it in the ocean. And hope the fish eat it.|||I doubt pollution will ever stop completely. We can recycle all of our waste, but we need dramatic changes to occur before even that is possible. But these changes would be very very destructive to peoples current way of life and so you will not see such changes happen anytime soon.|||No, but we can make still make a difference. We can find more environmentally friendly ways to run factories and we can build more recycling facilities. We can have more factories that really do use 100% clean coal for energy. Due to the greed and money that are gained from oil though, it's nearly impossible for these people to give that up.|||It might take longer than that. the best solution? drop the price of gas, so people can enjoy their lives, and have them stop WORRYING so much about things we can NOT control. if people spent more time focusing on things they CAN control, like their happiness, then the world would be a much better place. and if it gets a little warmer or cooler, people could accept it and adapt, because everyone would be in a better mood, instead of a state of media-induced panic.

Without technology, your teeth might rot, your apendix could burst, any number of things which we take for granted now would be worse off than with technology gone. Mankind has two ways to go, forward, or backward. If we go forward, we also need to learn how to dispose of our wastes better, or recycle. It's not a matter of stopping technology, but of spending the MONEY , to force the commercial businesses to absorb the true costs of a process to be felt by everyone ; maybe then, people would think twice before using something. Unfortunately, mining and logging can leave an area stripped, and they're not held accountable for replacing the resources they took. That's changing now, so hopefully it will continue so we can renew our renewables for future humans.

To what extent should developing countries be responsible in solving the environmental problems?

this is a general paper question. pls help me!|||Each nation's burden should be proportional to their ability to do so. In other words, the more wealthy countries should bear a greater burden, but all countries should do whatever they are able to do.|||All countries should share this burden. However, more developed countries should share a greater burden since they are contributing more to the problem. Some countries can't even begin to feed their own people let alone pour money into a very expensive problem such as reducing environmental pollution. Since everyone is crunched right now with the economic crisis on hand, it will be difficult to accomplish anything. The next big cash cow should be to find an economic way to reduce pollution. If this could somehow be turned into a profitable venture, this problem could be fixed.

Discuss the possible ways to solve environmental problems?

State what sort of things we can do to hlep.|||Convert power plants from fossil fuels such as natural gas or coal to nuclear energy. This will substantially reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce demand on natural gas.

Convert all government vehicles from gasoline to Compressed natural gas (this will reduce the demand for gasoline) you will have more natural gas available as power plants do not use it anymore.

By doing the above, the USA would reduce its dependency on foreign oil and clean up the air we breathe in one quick solution.

The tradeoff is dealing with nuclear waste.|||If you are following the logic of the homework you were given the answer is "Save the planet, wear a condom!"

What are the steps taken by government to control environmental problems in Colombia?

We all know that deforestation and public concentrations are the main offenses, happening with-in that country. The government is bent on extracting every penny it can gather and hold, in an effort to buy political supremacy, in the world audience. It's all a ploy to garner worthy attention, upon the world stage. This is a rich-man's game designed only to benefit the very few, willing to step onto this stage. All this venture comes on the back of the lowly workers. It's a gamble that only rewards the gambler-all rewards are his,and his alone to bank, hidden and not divulged. Thus- the sin continues unabated! At this point- all commen sense morals have been abandoned, and any hope of recognition has been moraly destroyed. I'd so arm for a moral gaff, one brought -one brought-on by a morrally corrupt affront to nature.|||Check out this site: http://www.panda.org/who_we_are/wwf_offi鈥?/a>

What are the environmental problems/issues with Aspirin?

I doubt there are any but I have to come up with one.

Preferably an problem that is not a problem with other similar drugs (Ibuprofen, Paraceitamol)

An idea is that it came from Willow trees - but its obviously all synthetic now.

What are three human caused environmental problems associated with removing groundwater in excess?

Obviously draining an aquifer of freshwater available for human and environmental use. Subsidence, which is when the pressure within an aquifer is no longer sufficient to support the weight of the overburden, and you get sinkholes, and all sorts of large, damaging cracks in the ground. This is a major problem in the Tuscon area. If you drain an aquifer near the coast, you could lower it enough that seawater flows in, permanently contaminating it, so even if you stopped pumping and waited for it to recharge, it would be next to impossible to get anything good from it. These are all genuine, serious problems that we're all currently faced with, which is especially frightening when you consider that we (as in, the human race) get the vast majority of our potable and agricultural water from aquifers that are right this moment being pumped dry. It is no longer a renewable resource, the way that we're currently using it.

What are some of the environmental problems in Vietnam?

I'm working on a project, and I need help with this information.

So,help anyone?|||There are a lot of unexploded bombs, shells, and mines over there but I don't know if that qualifies as an environmental threat. The real problem over there is the same as it is in most of the 3rd world. You have deforestation for farming taking place, usually by slash and burn methods. You also have an expanding population and sanitation problems. What do you think they do with all of their trash and sewage? Think they have clean landfils and effective sewage treatment plants, doubt it. They just dump it all into the sea. Try looking up sanitation issues in the 3rd world and slash and burn farming and you'll do fine.|||I was wondering if you are Vietnamese or a foreigner studying on Vietnam.

There are many environmental problems in Vietnam. If you live in Vietnam you can see contaminated rivers and lakes with domestic wastes and industrial sewage. The air is seriously polluted with traffic fumes and dust.

These are some problems. In general, Vietnam is facing every environmental problem that the world face.

Good luck!

What specific environmental problems is China facing because of over population?

It's not the population that causes the pollution it is the government allowing Factories to pollute and the cities to run with out proper sanitation rules.|||The average population DENSITY of China is much below central European countries, so there really is no general overpopulation. Instead, environmental and other problems are caused by the cultural and social GRAVITY of Chinese people who traditionally dislike individualism, but enjoy being part of a mass. That is why big cities keep growing in population, despite the Hukou system, and rural, desert, mountain areas and small towns are being deserted, despite efforts to make them more attractive.

Cities have the same huge environmental problems as elsewhere in the world. In China, those are aggravated by a poor environmental conscience of most citizens. The young generation, however, is now receiving a much better education, young people care visibly more about the environment than their parents. Environmental conscience developed the same way in Europe, about 30 to 40 years ago.|||The environmental problems the Chinese are facing is not because of the people it is because the government is so lax on the controls it places on industry. When you combine the two (population and lax controls) then you have a major problem. The government of China has the history of the world to draw from on this problem. All the other major countries have been through this same stage in their history and all have documented the cost in money and lives. The specific problem is water and air. There is many books on the British air problems starting at the turn of the 1900's, there are many books on the US with the same problems. In 1972 the US began to change the laws to protect the air and water. The cost to clean these were much more than what was made during the pollution. Love canal is a good example here in the US. Drinking water is of major importance to humans. It is very easy to pollute this water and very expensive to clean. Heavy metal pollution will also pollute the ground water making this unfit for consumption. When you have a population of 1.3 billion people they need a lot of drinking water each day to survive. Any and all water that is polluted is taken out of this supply for humans. Also when you walk through a city and see the residents wearing particle mask because of the pollution you have a major problem. If the air is unfit to breath this brings on a number of respiratory ailments that cost the people a good life and cost the country a much bigger investment in medicine and lost time. Pollution is a lose lose situation that must be controlled if any country wants to advance.|||A City with 10-15 million people is a problem and mainly environmental ones, lack of space %26amp; green area, not enough collection of water for use and waste water for treatment. Eco-City like tienjin, Chong Chin %26amp; Nanjing are in progress of redevelopment with help from Spore and in creation pattern of the SooChow Industrial Park. How can school children be made aware of environmental problems be motivated to become green warriors?

All childrens can be motivated if we tell him greenery as mondatory as he eat as he breath as he teach regularly. Greenery should become a chapter for childrens in early classes. this is the best way in my knowledge.......

Shakil Uddin|||Our high-priests of education decided that environmental awareness should become part of the school/college curricula after the Supreme Court of India mandated that environmental education be made compulsory in educational institutions from LKG to PG.

Hastily syllabi were framed and incorporated.

What happened ?

Teachers did their routine by completing the portions in time at the fag end of the academic year because that syllabi was never intended to make a difference to final examinations or education as a whole..

Students got the whiff of the academic perfunctoriness. They just mugged-up and vomited in the exams. All they cared for was minimal marks and getting through.

The deep need and the lofty aims behind the Supreme Court's verdict ended in an academic oblivion!

The loser was the Earth's environment and natural resources

Where did we go wrong? First, we handed over the framing of the syllabi to the typical bureaucratic committee's talking heads who were neither spirited environmentalists nor eco-consciously inclined intellectuals. They just went through the motion for salary and security. So, neither the syllabi were taught inspiringly by the teachers - majority of whom were themselves ignorant about the need - nor the students aspired for eco-environmental awareness given the examination-mark paradigm of our educational system!

We need environmentalists/ecologists to frame the educational syllabi in an interesting fashion peppered with anecdotes. Schools in particular should devote atleast three hours in a week (an hour per selected day) making the students watch the documentaries produced by National Geographic/Discovery Channels on a variety of eco-themes.

Teachers should spend three hours (an hour each for the selected day) in a week on a spirited interactive session with the students on enviro-themes with reading materials culled from the leading international/national magazines and newspapers on environmental crises and social ecological issues.

Students should be given projects involving field trips wherein they would be exposed to realtime environmental/ecological work by visiting sites that are important for the purpose.

On a fortnightly basis, schools should invite enviro-ecological specialists to give 'conversational lectures' on their chosen field of speciality.

The whole idea behind environmental education should be to make students aware of the need to be eco-conscious and make them understand the topics/issues/remedies instead of mugging-up facts for examinations.

What should be inculcated is the value of being an eco-citizen so that each individual as he/she grows up would also share the eco-wisdom and apply those principles in their lives.

In High/Higher Secondary and College levels, students should be exposed to the best of the environment/ecology organisations in the world - EarthFirst!, WWF, World Watch Institute, UN (Environmental Programs), Center for Science and Environment, etc.

The libraries of schools/colleges should make available to students some of the leading publications/magazines on environment/ecology - eg: WWI's State of the World series, DownToEarth The Ecologist - and popular books on the subject. Besides, we need to introduce children to the habit of reading for which they have make students use the library in an inspiring way.

Schools should put wall posters with eco-evocative images and relevant FactSheets on a number of issues on the topics.

All teachers should be given refresher training on how to teach eco-themes by conducting seminars with the participation of environmentalists/ecologists and eco-writers/activists.

Children should not be made to feel that Environment and Ecology as academic burdens to be off-loaded at the earliest. They should be - in an inspiring way - made to feel and realize that learning about environment awareness is a lifetime affair. It only begins in schools but never ends.|||Green warriors! Sound great! mere statistics can instill awareness just as it happened in my case.

90 million watts of power saved along with tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions that is reduced! more success rates, more participation from children. Relate the issue to some common cartoon characters to get the support of kids! TV commercials and biscuit packets serve as a great medium for propagation! sometimes movie celebs can do a lot of mind changing. hope the movement grows more branches from its trunk!|||.Practice what you preach.Example is better than precept.Develop a positive attitude in children on the importance of the interrelation between man and environment, how to minimise the use of precious natural resources like water, how to prevent pollution, especially plastic %26amp; E-waste etc.Plant saplings %26amp; protect trees of our surroundings, ask children to watch phenological changes in the trees of their campus %26amp; home.Take them to field trips, especially to wild life sanctuaries %26amp; ecological hot spots, let them enjoy the beauty, of nature %26amp; also the wounds of human intervention they will surely become GREEN WARRIORS WHO SAVE EARTH FOR OUR POSTERITY.|||Our Vedic scripts have given a clear idea of how the five elements of nature (Earth, Fire, Air, Water, Ether) are related to the five sense organs and the human body. Children can be made to understand that for their own good, the five elements of nature must be balanced and until we take care of them, the nature will not take care of us.

Children learn from home and school. So, parents and teachers need to follow the rules of eco care and set an example to children.

At school, children can be made to learn through experiential learning. They may be asked to come up with charts, skits and debate on ecological topics. Also one can encourage plant gifting among children.|||Yes they should know the environmental problem|||GREEN WARRIORS UNITE!|||Teach them about environmental awareness activities, plantation, recycling of wastages....etc.

Should churches be more outspoken in matters that involve the environmental problems in their communities?

I have seen churches in places that were suffering from damaging environmental problems, yet it seems like they only speak out in matters related to abortion. Do you think Christians see that Jesus is coming soon, that way they don't really care to speak up on things like pollution since the earth will be re-made when he comes?|||Not politcally expedient to do so|||I don't think there's a legitimate church on the planet. Whatever is out there is the creation of a diametrically opposed system. It's pretty obvious, too.|||we are all suppose to take care of Gods property|||Many people think that God gave them this earth and everything on the earth to use up.|||I think church is being abused and used as a secondary form of government these days, churches should focus on helping people with their spiritual lives, and leave environmental issues to city/state/federal government. Preaching about jesus doesn't make you an expert on the environment. People need to vote more, and get off their knees...|||Damaging environmental problems are not the church's responsibility. But, if the minister, priest, or lay citizens want to get involved and do something about it, the church is the obvious first place to start.

There are environmental problems everywhere, That is a given. What we need to do is get citizens involved and open to doing something and then calling up the minister and ask him if we could meet and discuss our plans to improve the environment by meeting in his church.

Other than that, it isn't the jurisdiction of a church to do any more than that.

When you get politics in the pulpit and the pulpit in state legislatures, nothing gets done.|||church isn't supposed to take up government issues ... it would be so much better if churches stuck to preaching the word to the people who want to hear it. let government handle government issues and let church handle church issues.

that's why there is such a thing as "seperation of church and state" in america ... though the church folk ignore it, pushing for prayer in schools and whatnot.|||It would be great for churches to be more active and not just single idea places. They could be more relevant in society.|||Yes churches should be more outspoken in community environmental problems. The federal government cannot always be relied on to solve local problems. Helping to resolve environmental issues needs to be an effort of private citizens, local businesses, municipalities, non-profits, and the religious community (Christian as well as other faiths).

The Catholic Church does support Environmental Justice and Stewardship of the land. The late Pope John Paul II wrote a piece called "The Ecological Conversion" and various denominations/faiths also support these principles. I do agree that abortion is the most common issue that churches address publicly and hopefully other issues will be covered as extensively in the near future.

Would it solve our environmental problems if the human's population were to stabilize?

If so, how?|||No, it would need to decrease, in order to give everyone a decent standard of living. And we would have to take more steps to live in a more environmentally-friendly way.

Would it solve our environmental problems if the human's population were to stabilize?

If so, how?|||Stabilization of population will help solve environmental problems only to a certain extent. Human being depend on the environment to survive, thereby it only logical to assume that reduction in the increase of population will result in less impact on the environment.

I however think that the human being of this era are greedy, therefore they misuse the environment. They don't use it for survival but for other unnecessary things. one person would have 3 cars all emitting harmful gases in the atmosphere.

A change in attitude towards our environement will go a long way in solving envirnmental problems.|||The more humans there are, the more stress we put on the Earth's resources.

If everyone on Earth lived liked Americans, it would take 4 Earths to support everyone.

That means, as the standard of living around the world increases (especially in China and India), one of those things have to happen

a) the world population has to decrease

b) our standard of living has to drop down to that of everyone around us|||The population isn't necessarily the problem, it is how the population interacts, manages and treats the environment.

So I do not believe that population stablisation would "solve" our environmental problems. It is the actions of the population that will "solve" the problems.|||well im not sure if we stablized our population growth if it was to help much all i know is that we need to try our best to look after our mother earth cause without her were stuffed and people dont realize that , although you may say a poplulation stablization may help but it doesnt matter how many people we have its about what we do to nourish and protect our earth.|||Yes.. I think so, that's why I agree with birth control so our population will not grow bigger. It will help in such a way that less people less pollution in all forms, so by these we can help our environment.|||Yes,especially people who does not care about the world we live.|||It would help if numbers of people decreased. Pandemic|||ya offcourse

Can you visualize the Earth solving Its environmental problems like a dog shaking water off his back?

Yes, eventually everything will even out, but will we still be here? Probably not. The Earth has a lot more time than we do.|||No. Sorry. Does nothing for me.

I'm a cat person.|||Like I said before mother earth knows how to correct herself by natural disasters: hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, volcanoes

Environmental and economical problems we are facing because of fossil fuels?

What are some environmental and economical problems we are facing using fossil fuels, and what are some possible solutions to these problems?|||The environmental problems are those which may be expected over the next century due to global warming, including rising seal levels. Economically, we will face a roller coaster ride of skyrocketing oil prices as oil becomes more scarce. We will also face shortages and we will be vulnerable to blackmail by unstable regimes if we do not reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.|||Well as far as economical issues, the liberal side of the government is opposed to usage of fossil fuels because of this whole world ending crisis that, according to said liberals, should have been a lot more world ending by now. Taxes and limitations are put on gas and oil and such, driving up the price of fuel, and so shipping and transportation, increasing the price of all delivered items in a big cascading effect that doesnt exactly make the economy work all nice and dandy. In economical issues, the media and the liberals are both capitalizing on global warming for the publicity and money. Sea ice around antarctica has increased about 43% since 1980. Arctic ice has gone down about 7%. Guess which one the media exploded over. Back in 1970 scientists tried to warn us of impending global cooling. Now its warming. Not much has changed.|||We have already reached peak oil as evidenced by the rising cost of energy and fuel prices that will further increase in the immediate future.

Governments and big oil is keeping this a secret from the people but it seems likely that their best strategy is to decrease demand by increasing the cost to delay the inevitable collapse of the world economy.

Closely connected with this is the central banks who are putting a squeeze on lending through various austerity measures aimed at limiting growth of small businesses whilst consolidating the power and wealth base of big corporations even more.

Introducing the carbon emissions tax by various governments will make it more difficult for the average citizens to run their business given that they are already paying high enough tax as they are.

At the end of the day whatever the government does and however they go about it since they are very closely tied to big corporations which set their policies especially the NGO's of the world such as the council on foreign relations, bilderberg group, the trilateral commission, and many more in the guise of philanthropic organizations, not one decision that any governments of various countries make do so without these organizations influence whether directly or indirectly.

Even a blind man can extrapolate from this cause what the inevitable effect will be in the immediate future in terms of climate and environmental policies where big oil will be allowed to drill anywhere they want even in national parks and heritage listed reserves.

This spells disaster for the environment as the demand for energy will increase anyway due to the inevitable population increase which is staggering to say the least and the oil companies are forced to drill for oil in deeper waters offshore since the reserves in existing sites such as in the middle east are already severely depleted.

There will be many more catastrophic natural disasters unlike we have ever seen before and our insatiable appetite for oil and natural gas will only contribute even more to environmental destruction and triggering of earth and seaquakes that will produce unimaginable mega tsunamis which will wipe out major cities around the world especially in the US pacific northwest coast.

Warn as many people of the impending disaster which will unfold in the next several years and next year will also be very very unpleasant given that we rely so much on electronic components for everything.

Next year the internet will shut down due to coronal mass ejection which will damage communications satellite and there will be power failures and communications breakdown.|||the solution is growing INDUSTRIAL HEMP just as american farmers were doing in the 1800s. we can make paper, run cars , plastics, food, clothes, and thousands of other products from it. and its FREE to grow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSKJrgGqx鈥?/a>|||The main environmental problem due to the fossil fuels are that air pollution due to the automobiles. The poor country are facing economical crisis due to heavy deficit balance in payment.|||There should be more vehicle-free cities.
