How can economists help to solve environmental problems?

How can economists help to solve environmental problems?|||Economists can help you to:

* figure out the appropriate tax on carbon

* figure out the appropriate allotment in an cap %26amp; trade scheme

* figure out the costs and revenues associated with said schemes

In general all environmental problems and solutions are based on how consumers will react to certain policies. Economists have been studying this for years (in other issues) and are better at it than most. Economists know you cant just tell people to cut their carbon use, or expect others to behave in a rational collective way. People will tr to cheat and cur corners. Good economists know how to get around that.|||They can't. Numbers don't solve natural problems. Foresight does. Current economists work four months behind what is happening now and have no idea what will happen in the future unless they are also historians. In that way they can look at what humans have done in the history of the world and predict what will happen in the future.

Santa Anna said, "Those who don't learn from History are doomed to relive it.".
