10th grade biology project, ways to solve environmental problems, any ideas?

I am in 10th grade biology and we have to do a project that helps with the environmental issues that we struggle with in today's world, like: Oil spills, global warming, air pollution, water pollution, noise pollution, solid waste disposal, disposal of computers, climate change, anticipated environmental problems, etc. I really need help with an idea for a project all ideas will be greatly appreciated!|||Besides researching alternative energy solutions and such, I highly recommend researching biomimcry/biomimesis. Basically, nearly all the problems we have today can be solved by mimicking organisms found in Nature. For example, we use dyes to color our clothing, dyes that eventually fade the more we wash them. Birds and insects, however, have colored feathers and scales that have incredibly vibrant colors that don't fade, and are produced by the interplay of light with the microscopic structure of the scales/feathers. Not only that, they grow these things with safe, non-toxic chemicals and without destroying their environments. Another example: Spiders produce silk that is stronger than steel of equal size. In order for humans to produce a substance, we would need a factory, huge heavy machinery to treat the substance with massive amounts of pressure, lots of heat, and toxic chemicals. Spiders can produce it with non-toxic chemicals, under livable temperatures and pressures, within their own bodies. There are tons more examples if you need them. If you can mimic these natural processes, you can make industry safer, more energy efficient, and less toxic, which would help tremendously. I hope that helps and isn't too large in scope for your project. Good luck!|||MY answer would be to reduce the global surface population by a few billion.

Seriously though, there are some pretty good resources on this online. Check into subjects such as solar/wind/hydroelectric energy, non-combustion driven automobiles, carbon markets, etc. I believe that Popular Mechanics has a good bit of "Going Green" types of resources on their site. I've read a few of their articles, and there are some wicked-cool ideas in there.

Here is a link that may help you get started:

Just copy and paste it into your browser, for some reason I can't get a hyperlink to work.
