I know it causes the ozone to thin. What environmental problems does this cause?
(e.g. plant life in Antarctic seas is damaged)|||Loss of protective ozone, allows more UV-B to arrive at Earth's surface. Increases in UV-B causes:
- increases in cataracts, skin cancer, mutation
- decreases in crop yield, and arable land (as the soil is sterilized)
Essentially it will cause some damage to the DNA of all surface life.

As an interesting sidelight, some of the fluorocarbon replacements for CFCs are starting to show up as endocrine disruptors...|||The thinning of the ozone layer allows more UV radiation from the sun to reach the earth's surface, which causes an increased rate of skin cancer|||none
