What would be the environmental problems for country clubs?

I hope you can help me out for my thesis. thank you|||biggest = pesticide and herbicide use on greens - daily golfers have higer cancer rates - and runn off.|||Every day when I walk through the woods next to the golf course, I see the drainage needed to keep the fairways dry, and I see the irrigation systems needed to keep the fairways wet, then I notice the many drain pipes leading into the woods and to the creeks and then to the rivers, containing the many chemicals used to keep the fairways and greens in pristine condition.

Fairways and greens are not "natural" in the sense that they look that good every day of the year. You have to do a lot of watering and chemical manipulation of the grass to maintain that condition. Its everyone downstream who has to eat and drink the products of the runoff.|||A golf course uses a lot of chemicals to keep the weeds out and keep the grass green and lush. They use a lot of gasoline powered machines to cut and trim. They also use a lot of water which in some areas has to come a long distance. Golf carts are mostly battery powered these days but still a number of gas one left. They are not environmentally a good choice for areas with regular air pollution problems. But I bet they are still there.

How do the environmental problems of Mono Lake and the Aral Sea differ?

What type of environmental problems does russia face that the United States face also?

How does the notion "econmic man" tend to lead to environmental problems? (consider perfect knowledge and assu?

last word is assumption. ok can a smart econmist or just someone smart who knows exactly what this means tell me the answer. Im getting behind in my work which seriously sux. thanx.|||i studied economics and business. never heard of the "economic man"./

i think you took the word from sociology test.

i guess the definition of economic man. relates to a person that has a rationality of maximising profit

perfect knowledge means- that every one in the market (consumer and supplier) have the knowledge about everything in it so they dont incur any searching or information costs

so the answer, will be along the lines that all what the economic man considers is to maximise his profits while producing negative externalities that rise the social costs.

(if you have an economic text book. look for the section where you see the analysis in diagrams of social and private costs/benefits and their effects, which is the "externality")

a good idea is to find the film "The Corporation" it will help you with example giving and the understanding of how the "economic man" behaves|||The term "Economic Man" was used for the first time in the late nineteenth century by critics of John Stuart Mill’s work on political economy.[1][2] Below is a passage from Mill’s work that those 19Century critics were referring to:

"[Political economy] does not treat the whole of man’s nature as modified by the social state, nor of the whole conduct of man in society. It is concerned with him solely as a being who desires to possess wealth, and who is capable of judging the comparative efficacy of means for obtaining that end."[3]

Later in the same work, Mill goes on to write that he is proposing “an arbitrary definition of man, as a being who inevitably does that by which he may obtain the greatest amount of necessaries, conveniences, and luxuries, with the smallest quantity of labour and physical self-denial with which they can be obtained.”

An 'economic man' very often may not be worried about environmental problems

What jobs have the greatest impact on the prevention and remediation of environmental problems?

Other similar businesses are using mycelia to make biodegradable food containers instead of using styrofoam; as well as making fireproof (or very fire-resistant) insulation.

Edit: Building houses with straw bales, or stones, or sacks of dirt.

Growing hemp for fuel, medicines, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Being a farmer and selling to locals so they don't have to buy food that's been shipped needlessly around the world.

Being a bike courier or rickshaw driver.|||This is the best question. The answer is: No jobs. Crazy, huh. If you have a job, you don't have any time to do all your living. You have to pay other people that sit at the head of the table in a huge corporation where nothing but money and power matter, ultimately, to feed you, clothe you, entertain you, employ you, provide you a vehicle, a television, tickets to the Knicks, an ipod touch.... it never stops once you start feeding it. But if you don't have a job, finally you get to eat all the fresh healthy organic vegetables you figured out how to grow, the milk you squeezed out of your goat doesn't have any antibiotics or hormones to make your daughters bud early and act real crazy sneaking out of the house on weekends (or worse), the old chevy with parts that a grown human can actually fit their hands around only burns gasoline a little bit here and there when it's really necessary so you aren't worried at all since you are nenewing WAY more carbon around this place than you are losing up into the atmosphere where it does God knows what, and you have an appreciation for the land around you, which means you won't be so quick to dump battery acid in the creek or beer can plastic rings onto the necks of critters.
